Scrap happenings

If you are in the mood to scrapbook over the next couple of days, then you are in luck!
Scrap in Style is doing on online slumber party Monday and Tuesday.
So check it out! There will be games and challenges and prizes and downloadable goodies and freebies and lots of fun to be had by all!
While you are over there you should also check out the new collection called the Girly Girl.
It is full of Basic Grey, Pink Paislee, Websters Pages, Making Memories, and Maya Road.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that there are specials in the Boutique during the slumber party also.
Let's see, there is free shipping for orders more than $50 (just don't tell your husband!) & if you order the Girly Girl (which I highly recommend) you get a free bottle of glimmer mist.
Here are a few things I made with the Girly Girl:
I know I have already shown you this book in my last post but I thought I should share some of the inside pages also.

I could not wait to do a layout with all my pics from SISiversary!
(I added the black cardstock & red accents on this one but everything else is from the collection)
I love these Making Memories felt letters & the tiny glitter letters are so cute (& the glitter doesn't come off on your hands-gotta love that!).
And a little card...
One last thing...if you place an order at SIS on Monday or Tuesday then your name is entered into a drawing to win a big ole prize!

I've been scrappin'

So I thought I should share some stuff with you.
I received my first box of My Little Shoebox goodies this week & I couldn't wait to dig in!
I am not exaggerating when I say that my husband has been a yard-working fool this summer.
I don't know where his fascination with the yard came from but I am lovin' it!
This flower box was a little weekend project for him & it looks really great in our backyard!
I made this little pocket of tags (there are Bible verses on the tags) for a sweet friend.
This next one is just a little one about myself.
If you look closely, you can see a line of journaling that reads, "I am not a good cook."
I am not lying about that.
I have even done an entire layout about my lack of cooking skills that lists a bunch of kitchen mishaps I have had.
I have a new one to add.
I made some muffins this afternoon when I got home from work.
Now you ask, "What kind of muffins did you make?"
Well, just muffins.
You ask again, "No, like what flavor of muffins?"
Laughing, I have to tell you that they are just "muffins" because I forgot to add the blueberries.
And what is probably even worse is that I didn't even realize what I had done until after I had eaten about 1/2 a muffin!
Wow!
**LAYOUT REMOVED FOR PUBLICATION...BE BACK SOON**
Have a great weekend friends!

Short & sweet but a shameless plug nonetheless

Scared of clear albums??
Unsure of what to do with them??
Bought too many of them and left them sitting in a drawer somewhere pitifully unused??
Well you are in luck!
I did a little tutorial today over at Scrap in Style that will hopefully take the scariness out of making a clear album & maybe even get you inspired to make something with one!
You can check it out as I walk you through a simple way to make a clear album.
Check it out here at the Tutorials & Challenges blog!

And there is a little RAK involved if you are willing to play along!

While you are over at Scrap in Style, you might as well check out the one day sale going on right now.
You can get 20% off your entire order!
Use this coupon code: ONEDAY.

SISiversary!

I spent the weekend in Nashville at the oh-so-fun SISiversary event.
It is always so fun to actually put faces to avatars and meet (in real life) so many people who share my love for scrapbooking!!
I took about 200 pictures while I was there and I thought I would share a few of my favorites!

JJ and team pulled off a great weekend! Here are Jo-Anne, Diane, and Traci actually getting some scrapbooking done.

This is the fabulous Paintinkchick whose name I know but cannot spell (but it starts with an "S")! Forgive me...I am from Mississippi originally & you know where MS is on the literacy chart!

Heather and Angie were working hard during Kerry Lynn's class.

I was so glad to see this girl there! Anybody named Gretchen is tops in my book!
I busted Courtney sitting down on the job!
Gigi and Stacey are so cute!

There were definitely good times had by all this weekend.
Sasha, Jayne, Kerry Lynn, and Diana here are proof of that!
Ashley's class was awsome!
Check out these cute Fashionista shirts from Amy Tangerine.
Rebecca and Stacey wear them well!

Here are Kimmie and Debbie enjoying Sarah's class.

Speaking of Sarah...her class was the coolest!

Queen Diane and Traci did finally look up from their hard work long enough for me to get this picture of them.

Here is the fabulous Amy Tan (maker of the previously mentioned cute shirts)!

And last but not least, here are some of my favorites: Amber & Sasha!

I will require a few days to recover from the weekend.
Little sleep + lots of socializing + laughing like crazy + long talks = tired Gretchen
But it is always worth it!
Hope your weekend was great too!

Seriously

Because in my warning above I promise "possibly funny stories", I thought I should share one.
So here goes...
Coming back from lunch today (& running late as usual I might add), I stop to do my good deed for the day. There was a lady trying to open a door while carrying a case of Dr. Pepper in what looked like a crummy box top. Not only was she just carrying lots of my favorite beverage in that box top but also there were several other things stacked on top. I had to go in that same door anyway, so I open the door for her. Well as she goes to walk through the door, the box (for the most part) just crumbles and down goes many, many cans of Dr. Pepper. If any of you have dropped a can of a carbonated beverage you know what happened as these cans hit the ground.
Seriously, it was like a Dr. Pepper fountain! Yummy soda was spraying everywhere!
By everywhere I also mean on myself. Yeah, I didn't get to enjoy Dr. Pepper like I usually like to. There was not a drop in my mouth but I did have a lot of it on my face, in my hair, all over my shirt, & soaking my pants and shoes.
Seriously, when I walked into my clinic (late, of course, by now) my co-worker asked, "Did it just start raining?" I proceeded to explain (not so nicely) to her the weirdness that had just happened and somehow clean the stickiness off my person. Then I had to gather myself to be able to treat a poor lady high on painkillers who had her ACL reconstructed yesterday and also somehow convince her that her Dr. Pepper-covered therapist was not completely a fool.
Seriously, did that just happen??
Happy hump day people!

Wanna play??

Because if you do, I've got 1 class kit left! I taught this layout class at Scrap Etc. a couple of weekends ago. These layouts are made with Cosmo Cricket papers & embellishments as well as some brads, ribbon, & chipboard shapes. I think the colors here are perfect for boy layouts as well as summer, travel, & nature layouts.
The kit contains everything you need to make the 1-page layout above, the
2-page layout below...

...and this 1-page layout below.

All you need to add is adhesive and a little red paint!
The kit costs $20 (plus shipping if needed) and it comes complete with instructions & pictures of these example layouts.
If you want it, email me at gretchenmcelveen@yahoo.com
(first come, first serve)

Happy Monday folks!

Virginia is the coolest!

and I am not talking about the state!
I am talking about this Virginia.
I was about to pull my hair out.
But now it is working!
<-----------------------------------------
(the slide show that is)
Thanks for your help my friend!
Please note: 3 posts in 1 day. I am on a roll!
Happy Friday friends!

Hmmmm

Now i have to figure out how to make that little slideshow be over on the side somewhere and not be its own post.
I should have paid more attention during my "basic computer skills" class in college.
Hope your week is going well.
