Just playing

I get alot done when I am stuck to the TV watching the Olympics & Nascar races.
{well, scrappy stuff at least but not so much of anything else!
wait! i did do some laundry; yes, laundry!}
So in between loads of laundry :) I got this page done.
I like to do these "currently" layouts periodically.
They will be fun to look back on later.
Plus, I wanted to play with my Slice a little more!
Supplies: Cardstock (American Crafts), Patterned paper (October Afternoon-pink; My Mind's Eye-red, yellow, blue; Cosmo Cricket-blue; Crate Paper-purple), Rub-ons (American Crafts); Bling (Heidi Swapp); Die cuts (heart & stars from Basic Elements card for the Slice); staples

OK back to the Olympics!
Go Apolo!
{dude, he's hot!}

What has come over me???

I am playing with digital!
{i know you are thinking, who are you & what have you done with Gretchen??}
Crazy things are happening!
But I got excited to try some digi after reading Dina's post on the Kenner Road blog.
Plus I reeeeally wanted to try to do something with Kerry Lynn's new digital kit (Honeychurch) because it is just so purty!
Aaaaaaaand I wanted to play with my Slice a little more!
So I made this card.
I just printed out a couple of the Honeychurch papers and the ruler embellishment.
I used my Slice to cut the title out of kraft & the flowers out of the pink patterned paper.
Did a little tearing, added a few brads of course, and voila!
It's a hybrid card!
Supplies: Patterned paper & ruler (Kenner Road Honeychurch), Die cut title (Think Pink card for the Slice), Die cut flowers (Basic Elements card for the Slice), Brads (American Crafts), button, string

How convenient is it that "Digi Month" over on the KI blog this month.
You know, since my digi skills are becoming so polished.
HA!
{there is power in positive thinking people!}
So, just like that card above, I printed out some of the digital KI paper and made this card.
Supplies: Cardstock (American Crafts), Patterned paper (KI Memories digital!!), Alphabet stickers (KI Memories), Ribbon (KI Memories), Brad (KI Memories)

{this is what happens when i make cards on the same day-they all start to look alike! ha!! actually, alot of my cards are starting to look alike! hmmmmmm}

So I thought I should put all that stuff that I have been cutting to good use!
Like on a card for instance!
I cut the frame, flower, and "smile" all using the Basic Elements card that came with my Slice.
Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, brads (American Crafts), Button & Slice die cutting machine (Making Memories)

It is "Sketch Week" over on the American Crafts blog & this card is based on a sketch by the fabulous Martha Bonneau!

**heart**

Looks like my heart craze continues!
I made a layout for the My Mind's Eye blog challenge.
The challenge was to use pink and/or red on a layout based on the following sketch.

And I figured that since the Mercedes marathon was run on Valentine's Day, my layout about it needed to be full of hearts! Supplies: Patterned paper (My Mind's Eye), Rub-ons (My Mind's Eye), Journaling block (My Mind's Eye), Bling (Heidi Swapp), Heart punches (McGill & The Paper Studio), Pen (American Crafts)

That's all I've got!

Kenner Road goodness

This month's Kenner Road gallery is up and kits are on sale!
I got to play with the main kit (Skylark) and the embellishment kit (Passerine).
This kit is full of Crate Paper, Basic Grey, Making Memories, and 7gypsies papers as well as American Crafts Thickers, cool mini-mark rub-ons, and tons of fabulous vintage stuff!
There is so much good stuff this month!
{i have made a bunch of stuff with my kit and still have lots that i have not used yet!}
________________________________________
So here is what I made!
I felt it only appropriate to make a layout about me & Lee on Valentine's Day.
{the background paper here is the "B" side of a piece of Crate Paper-it has a cool, textured patterned that does not show up at all on this scan}
Uh, I went a little heart crazy with this kit!
I made this card for a couple of newlyweds.

The American Crafts mini-marks make for a beautiful sentiment
on the inside of the card.
See what I mean?? Heart crazy!
My grandmother is moving into a new house in a few weeks
so I make a sweet card for her.

And the inside...
And I made a little house-warming gift for her.
{that is my grandmother with my dad on the left & my uncle on the right}
I found that frame for like 25 cents at Micheals.
And one more layout!
I figured Kathy Ireland needed her own page.
:)
Be sure to check out what the rest of the Kenner Road team did with February's kits!
{gallery here}
:)
Happy Monday folks!

Housekeeping

No, no, no I have not been cleaning my house!
I mean, really, I have much more important things to do.
Like yesterday I got off work early because of the snow. And those extra hours were spent playing in the snow, not cleaning, no way. Today the sun is out and I've got bigger & better things to do than clean on a Saturday!
Like watch the Olympics and Danica Patrick try to beat the boys in the Nationwide race.
And pick up my packet for the Mercedes run tomorrow.
So I mean "housekeeping" as in here are a few odds & ends that you need to know about!
______________________________
For example, did you know that February is "Digi Month" over on the KI blog??
All digital products are 50% off!
And all month on the blog there will be free downloads and cool digi projects by the design team!
{yes sireeeee that includes me!}
Go check it out!
______________________________
There is also some fun going on this month over on the My Little Shoebox blog!
There is a little contest where you have to match baby pictures to current design team members for a chance to win some MLS products.
This contest will be happening over the next several days so keep checking back for the next rounds & new pictures!
{hint...my picture is not up there yet!}
______________________________
I finished up my projects with the February Kenner Road kit yesterday.
The kit goes on sale tomorrow night at 9:00 PM PST
(that's 11:00 CST).
I am serious when I say that this is a great Valentine's present for yourself if your Valentine's Day is lame!
{how nice of Kerry Lynn to put it on sale at the end of the day so you have time to adequately & fairly assess the day's festivities!}
:)
Come chat with us tomorrow at 8:00 PM PST (that's 10:00 CST) over on the Kenner Road site and see the new gallery with this month's projects!

The giveaway in the post below is still open until tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.

Sorry

Apparently my life is way booooring right now because I am struggling to come up with things to make this blog interesting.
Sorry!!
I am working on it!
Like, for instance, did I ever show you this card that I made for my secret Santa at work??
Supplies: Cardstock (Little Yellow Bicycle), Patterned paper (KI Memories & Little Yellow Bicycle), Chipboard embellishment (KI Memories), Rub-ons (Little Yellow Bicycle), Velvet trim (American Crafts), Brads (American Crafts)

And how about this layout??!
I don't think I've ever shared this one before!
{uh, it's way old!}

Supplies: kraft cardstock, Patterned paper (Making Memories), Chipboard alphas & hearts (Heidi Swapp), Overlays (Hambly & My Mind's Eye), Star rub-ons (Jenni Bowlin), Brads (KI Memories), Buttons (SEI)

And to make this more interesting, here is the journaling:
Lee & I have been married for over 5 years now.
We don’t have any children yet
& up until about 2 years ago we were
not getting any pressure from
our families about that fact.
But that was before the doll house.
My mom bought the doll house from
some neighbors who moved away.
And it has become her not-so-subtle
hint that she is ready to be a grandparent.
She will mention periodically
about repairs she has made to
the doll house & how it is a
shame that there are no
little ones to enjoy them.
She even asks me what kind of changes
I would like made to it so that it is
appropriate for her grandchildren.
And I periodicially remind her
that patience is a virtue!

Shout out

Shout out to my marathon-running buddies Teri Potter & Charlie Brown {who claims to read this blog but I don't believe him}.
{Teri, Charlie Brown, & me; 1/31/10; after 13 miles}
They are training to run their first marathon next weekend & were nice enough to let me join them on their last 2 long runs.
{did you notice my strategy there? catch them on the tapering end of things. that was not coincidence, my friends!}
They have been training hard & diligently for several months and are going to tear up this marathon!
{Charlie Brown, me, B, and Teri; 2/07/10; after 11 miles}
Run like the wind my friends!
When I finish my wimpy 13.1, I will be cheering you on for the rest of your 26.2!

Happy week people!

13.1

I've got a new project.
I am working on a "13.1" album.
It's purpose is to be a compilation of all my 1/2 marathons.
I am going to use a 6x6 MOD album from American Crafts.
I just happen to have 1,000 of them leftover from the
Scrap Etc. event a couple years ago.
{ok not really 1,000 but I do have 5-6 samples of my class album & what do i need all those for?? one of them is about take on a new identity!}
I am not really worrying about any cohesiveness in this album.
I am fine with each page being different.
Just want to have all this compiled in one place.
And doing a 6x6 album will keep it simple.
Nothing fancy here.
Just fun memories.
It will be fun to look back years from now when I am sitting in my recliner with my knee replacements & see what I have accomplished.

More scrappies

CHA always make me want to scrap!
And the timing was perfect since I needed to get some
layouts done for My Little Shoebox!
January was free for all month for the MLS team.
We didn't have to use any particular line so we could use
whatever we wanted & combine lines as desired.
Fun stuff!
__________________________________________
This one is about my friend Brittney.
I am sure you know her.
I'm glad I do.
{all products are My Little Shoebox except the brads are KI Memories & American Crafts, the bling is Heidi Swapp, and that glitter "b" is Melissa Frances}
___________________________________________
I went all graphic on this next one.
It's a good change for me every now and then!
{i have a misspelled word on here i just noticed! can you see it??
if you don't see it, maybe i won't fix it! ha!}

{all products are My Little Shoebox except the kraft cardstock & star stickers}

My mom found that picture when I home over Christmas.
I knew it had to be scrapped even though I do not
remember where we are or what we are doing.
There are lots of memorable things about
the picture though & it was those things I wanted to document.
___________________________________________
And I made a little card for my sweet grandmother
who celebrates a birthday this week.

{everything is My Little Shoebox except for the kraft cardstock and the brads are American Crafts}

Thanks for looking!
Happy Monday people!
