Creating Keepsakes Mixed Media Scrapbooking

Have you seen the new special issue from Creating Keepsakes??
This one went on sale yesterday and it is a good one!!

Mixed Media Scrapbooking encourages a spirit of childlike, creative fun.
It is 132 pages full of  useful how-tos and inspiring ideas that dare you to to combine all kinds of crafty mediums with your scrapbooking projects!
And I have a layout in there!
I made this layout about my sweet grandmother.
this layout was supposed to be pretty clean & simple, but I wanted to add a touch of whimsy to it also.
The doodled scalloped border helped add a little whimsy.
And to make things more interesting, I added crafting wire to the center of the flower and to outline the leaves of the flower!

The wire is the "mixed media" aspect of this layout.
It helps to add a little something-something to an otherwise pretty basic layout!
See if you can see the wiring a little better in this close up...

I used just basic crafting wire that you can find at craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels.
It is easy to bend and twist and it comes in lots of colors.
Just make sure to use strong adhesive!
And you have to strategically use the adhesive so that it can't be seen (which is why the leaves are tucked up underneath the flower; the button is helping to cover some adhesive also).
