when i was first married we had mainly silver and white decorations on our tree but added a touch of color with some really dark blue brushed (not shiny) ornaments so i think blue in the right context can be ok but over all not a huge fan of blue at christmas. we now have a VT tree - go Hokies ;)
funny...my husband purchased blue candy canes for the Christmas tree...when he was not looking I moved them all to the back of the tree.
If done correctly they could be nice looking. I love bright white and a touch of baby blue to remind me of snow. Of course my taste changes every year!
My ex husband always wanted blue and silver on our tree, but it's just too cold for me. I am more of a multi colored girl myself.
Growing up, my dad was VERY into Christmas decorating. He was a traditionalist (in those days), so he stuck to red and green (and perhaps a pop of gold or white...) in the house and had ONLY red and white lights on the outside of the house (we were one of those houses you would drive 45 minutes to see... ;-) ). I love how he decorated. I still do. :-D
But me? I'm all about the color! I like every color in there! And yes, I LOVE blue! It's my favorite color, so I guess I have to include it. LOL. ;-)
LOVE these mini alphas! Thanks for the chance to win!
I like all sorts of color combos. I love to see what others do, even if it's not my style. (Just like with SBing.)
I'll use blue, but this year we have a monochromatic WHITE/GOLD theme going on.
My hubby loves the white icicle lights but I'm more of a multi-color kind of girl. My tree looks like a box of crayons blew up on it. So blue is ok with me as long as there are other colors with it.
I like the blue lights. They make everything look icy and cold for wintertime.
Congrats on the layout - that's fantastic!!!
Blue huh...it might be ok in very small quantities (in multi color lights, or a manger scene), but I think I'd mainly save it for 'winter' decorating after Christmas.
NOT a huge fan of the blue in Christmas. I have seen some done right, but I am pretty traditional. Light blue is a possibility, but good ol' crayon blue makes me cringe.
blue's not really my color, but my mom decorates gorgeously with blue and silver. I like purple, pink, and turqouise, but I live in home full of boys so yeah...I just stick with traditional red, green, and silver!
My boyfriend just landed a new job and a new apartment kind of far away from home (and from me!) so I decided he needed some home-y/holiday touches. I've used the Midnight Frost line by Bo Bunny to make some cute Christmas decorations, and used coordinating blue, silver and white ornaments, etc. I don't necessarily think blue goes with everyone's homes, but it sure matches his blue couch and decor!
I can't complain because my living room tree is done in blues and browns to match my furniture... but I am not a big fan of blue colored lites
I think blue is good if you like to do a snowman theme or I like a few bright blue accents thrown in a brighter color scheme.
I think you a great job with your red and gold mantle though!
I am a traditional kind of gal or more like vintage/antique looking things for my home so I mostly stick to red and green but I do own some snowmen and santas dressed in blue and I love them!
I've seen some really nice blue decorations in the shops, but for myself I prefer to create a warmer feeling with red.
My grandmother had an old silver tree from my mother's childhood that she covered with blue ornaments. I always loved to look at it every year.
Don't put me in the giveaway drawing because the good Lord knows I do not need any more scrapbooking stuff, however, I do like a few touches of turquoise. But you know me, I like that with green. And red. :)
Blue is not my color, we use a blend of southwestern time colors. No blue though!
Sure, blue and turquoise with silver - yep, love them!
I am a fan of traditional colors so probably no blue for me. There are enough other holidays of decorate in blue...
I used to have some blue/silver themed decor but I gave it all away to a co-worker who actually uses blue in her Christmas decorating. I'm sticking with red and green!
I don't like it every year, but it can be beautiful. I usually fall back on what we had when growing up -- all colors, cheesy tinsel, lots of collected ornaments and a homemade angel by one of the kids.
Blue... I am with you, if added in moderation, blue can be nice! However.... People that put blue lights on 2 windows on their house and the rest are white or multi color apparently don't know how to use BLUE! Blue can certainly be beautiful, but in Alabama more times than not..... it is overdone, and not tastefully! Blue at Christmas should be paired with white and silver decor.
I love blue decorations. I get tired of just red and green.
Maybe a few blue ornaments of the sentimental type, but that's that's where I draw the line. Ryan, on the other hand, has a tree decorated in blue, even the lights. Of course, it's a UK tree. =)
I don't personally like decorating for the holidays w/ blue. I like the traditional colors, but to each his/her own!!!
i'm into white and silver this winter, so no blue this year...maybe another time...
I love blue lights outdoors at Christmas, but it's very hard to make all your blues match. We found this out the hard way.
I've got so much red and green stuff that I don't know where the blue would go!
Like. Especially aqua or baby blue with red. A nice alternative to red and green.
No way girl! Red and brown and olive green for me thank you!! Red is my favorite color so there's no way we are doing my house in formal silvers and blues! We are way too country for that!
I like blue. Not the bright blue but the turquoise blue as well as other softer blues. Now, I go against tradition and have every color possible on my tree and mantle. I love having all these colors with my big white bows and streamers on the tree with a fluffy white tree skirt. SO PRETTY!
I've always been a red-and-green for Christmas person. But somehow this year, the pairing of pale teal with deep warm red has become my favourite combo.
if you like blue then go for it
i still like the red green and white though
I like blue, but for Christmas I rather decorate with red and green. I'm traditional...
Blue lights outside are magical!
I'm more of a red and green girl. I do love all the pinks coming into Christmas decor though!
